The Fluid Sampling Pump obtains fluid samples from fuel tanks located in hard to reach places. Use flexible 1/4″ tubing (sold separately) to withdraw fluid out of a fuel tank. The tube directs the fluid sample through the top of the hand pump directly into sample bottles. The fluid does not touch the inside of the hand pump, so there is no contamination from one sample to the next. Do not use the same length of tubing for multiple samples if cross-sample contamination is a concern.

Tips & Tricks:
To use the FS 100 Hand Pump to obtain a fuel sample from the bottom or other specific level of a fuel tank, use a length of 1/2 inch PVC pipe, available at most any home improvement store. Insert the tubing in through one end of the pipe until the tubing is about 1/2 inch short from exiting the other end of the PVC pipe. Drill a small hold through the PVC pipe just large enough to pass a small cable tie through both holes to secure the tubing tightly to the inside surface of the PVC pipe. Lower the PVC pipe to the level from which the sample is to be drawn. If you are going to the very bottom of the tank, note that sludge and debris may clog the tubing. If you want to obtain a sample consistently 6 inches (or other distance) above the tank bottom, drill a 3/8 inch hole in the side of the PVC pipe that distance from the end, and secure the tubing at that opening of the PVC pipe. Insert the PVC pipe until it hits bottom and take the sample. Place the other end of the tube in the FS 100 Hand Pump and pump the handled to draw the diesel fuel up into the sample bottle.
